4.1 Unlock probable release sunday
A carrier unlock for 4.1 firmware has been announced for iphone users that havent already jailbroken their device yet with either Limera1n or GreenPois0n.
@sherif_hashim a well know baseband unlocker has tweeted. "@rkamranb if u depend on an unlock then wait for the PT coming out on sunday hopefully, to port u to 4.1 with ur old baseband and hactivate"
As you can see @sherif_hashim suggests that if you rely on a unlock wait for Pwnage Tool coming out most probably Sunday.
Pwnage tool is designed to upgrade the firmware while retaining the unlockable Baseband.

@MuscleNerd on twitter has also revealed when thous who updated firmware and jailbroke on 4.1, there may be a possible unlock for 4.2.
"For all new limera1n and greenpois0n jailbreakers: there is also unlock on the horizon for at least some of you in 4.2"

Limera1n beats GreenPois0n to the chase
Theres been much controversy in the jailbreaking community lately which came to a climax the other day. GreenPois0n the eagerly awaited jailbreak for iphone 4, ipod touch 4, ipad and apple tv 2 running on 4.1 & 3.2.2 (for the ipad), was put on hold when "Geo hotz" aka "George Hotz" decided to release his limera1n jailbreak only a day before Greenpois0n was due to be released.
This sent the jailbreaking world into chaos when it was revealed that 2 boot ROM exploits could be burned up on the one jailbreak. The fact the Geo hotz did this has angered many, especially members of the "Chronic rev-team". Since this the mature thing has been done and GreenPois0n has been put on hold pending the re-working of it using the Limera1n exploit so as to save the sHatter exploit for a future device.

. If you require a unlock stay away from it, wait for pwnage tool
. It will update your baseband
. May or may not work on Apple TV 2
. Reports say that it dosent work on ipad running 3.2.2 but will probably be fixed with an update
. If you want to wait for GreenPois0n then it should be released soon possibly a week or so.

GreenPois0n release this Sunday 10/10/10
All of you who are eagerly awaiting for the new GreenPois0n jailbreak, the wait is nearly over as tweeted by p0sixninja
"Things have progressed to the point where we don't expect anymore roadblocks. ETA for greenpois0n is 10/10/10 at 10:10:10 AM"
So as you guise can see here it should most probably be released this Sunday, however what's not been released yet if its a teathered jailbreak or not? The fact that the dev team isn't releasing the fact it quit interesting! Maby there just trying keep the suspension.
However for the time being don't upgrade and make sure you SHSH is saved, let the wait begin

Apple Case program ending September 30th
Apple are ending their free case program at the end of the month, the 30th to be exact. After the "antenna-gate" fiasco apple are looking to put it all behind them. However no other plans are planed to tackle the antenna issue with the iPhone 4.Some reports have emerged that apple are planing to secretly correct the antenna issue with an update to the design. This if it was openly revealed is sure to anger many of the current iphone 4 community.
As long as you purchase the iPhone 4 before the 30th of September you are still going to qualify for the case.
So be quick to purchase your iPhone 4 as you defiantly want a free case!! WHO WOULDN'T?
Goodbye!! Rock!
Yes you have read it right. Rock have been sold to Cydia Founder Saurik ( Jay Freeman).
Over the past months, discussions have taken place between Jay Freeman (Cydia founder) and Mario Ciabarra (owner of Rock).
The discussions have revealed that Rock will dwindle away while its content will be ported over to cydia.
Mario Ciabarra has commented saying:
It's been a fun ride. We set out to change the landscape and I think we were very successful. I think we contributed to attracting more business professionals to the iPhone jailbreak community, and added some great functionality to the platform. The current transaction with Cydia is a great opportunity for us. We're going to miss some of the excitement, but no reason for anyone to worry. I, personally, will be spending even more time in Intelliborn apps development (both existing and exciting new projects). A few months ago, Jay and I sat down together and we realized, I enjoyed making apps more (and was better at it), while Jay enjoys providing platform functionality. It was a win-win for both groups and we're excited about the transition.
This agreement means that Cydia has been put in the position of overall control of the Jailbroken app scene thus expanding Jay Freemans empire.
This may be also seen as a sad day for many jailbreak users, as Rock was a favorite among many users. Its simple layout and overall feel made many a jailbreaker a fan. I personally feel sadden by the loss of the Rock app.

4.1 iOS JAILBREAK
4.1 iOS for the iphone & ipod touch was released the other day and while there wasn't a jailbreak planed for the 4.0.2 & 3.2.1 simply because the dev-team wasn't going to be playing the "Cat & Mouse" game with apple which as they said the only winner would in the end be Apple. So can we expect a 4.1 jailbreak? Word from Comex is that its most probable!
But will this jailbreak be as simple and easy as the 4.0.1 jailbreak with the infamous www.jaibreakme.com. Probably not since it wont be a userland jailbreak but will take advantage of the boot ROM exploit, So back to the days of " Power for 10, home +power for 10 ect.... which isnt a problem for most of the community.
The beauty of this is the possibility of custom boot logo, something much missed from the passed jailbreak.
For the time being DO NOT UPGRADE firmware to 4.1 if you require a jailbreak/unlock!! If not then feel free to update just make sure your SHSH is saved so you can downgrade at anytime.

how are Jailbreakers viewed?
Heres my question how are people who jailbreak their devices viewed in the wider community?
While most jailbreaks will take offence some of the attitudes that the main stream media take to the activity, It seems that theres always 2 sides that are projected and only 1 thats mostly focused on.
That being the view of jailbreaking enabling the downloading and installing of cracked/pirated applications which is generally frowned upon. However this is true not all the community supports this use, but saying that many jailbreaks openly do download pirated apps.
So is the illegal activity of downloading cracked apps ruining the image for all of us? I could easily say yes.
When ever you see a story in the media they continually focus on this fact. Not the fact that it opens up your device so the user dosent have to conform with apples idea of how their device should be used.
What ever happened to individualism and freedom? Even china a country renown for its control over everything, you are able to apparently able to buy a pre-jailbroken device there. --->
So why is this phenomenon of placing jail-breaking as the 8th deadly sin so popular? could it be with the propaganda that seems to be flowing from a un-named source COFF! COFF! APPLE!!...
Some of the common misconceptions commonly perceived by the public include it slows your device down, lowers your battery life, can brick your phone, ruins your warranty ( however and be restored with a restore), opens your device to potential security threats, and so on ect....
I mostly hear this from people who have never jailbroken their device and/or have very limited knowledge of such topics, where they have predominantly got their information from the common media. Where the Apple propaganda comes into play.
Hoping for a common perception of jail-breakers to be a liberation community could be a dream but maby one day the dream could come true but probably wont so long as this war of cat and mouse continues with Apple Vs jailbreak developers.
Give me your comments/views of how jailbreaks are viewed.

iPad generation 2 ?
After many reports of and iPad gen 2 by the end of this year, could we just be getting ahead of ourselves? Maby so, but apple generally follows a set pattern where their new products are released.
Most likely were going to see the new iPad the same time the following year but as was revealed in the iOS 4 code it provides hints to and new device about to be released, Some reports lean to a November/ December 2010 release however unlikely.
So What could we expect in a iPad gen 2?
Camera
Almost definably to come to the next iPad will be a front facing camera to enable apples FaceTime. Whether or not a back facing camera will appear is of different probability. Hopefully if it does come with a camera that will equal the quality of the iPhone 4's.
With this added image and video capturing capabilities we could see some added features of advanced video editing to the like where a fairly complex video can be captured, edited and uploaded straight to the internet from your device anywhere. This will demonstrate how much out lives are becoming increasingly mobile.
Improved Memory & Processor
We know that the iOS 4.2 update coming in November for the iPad will enable multitasking, even for the time being the ipad is a bit memory short without the multitasking to put it in simple terms, So another definite would be a boosted memory and processor and maby possibly a new ipad line of processors, while apple makes the A4 exclusively for the iphone and ipod touch. The ipad is likely to boast many new performance sucking feature so theses upgrades are a must.
Retina Screen
As many a apple fan boy would know theres nothing like the the iPhone 4 screen and you don't notice it until you pick up an inferior device and say " i cant believe i though this was good" i know i had that the other day then i went back to my iPhone 3G. I had the same moment but not as much with my iPad the other day, i thought if Apple don't upgrade this screen then ill never buy another Apple device (obviously i'm kidding).
I know that i'm not the only one with RDA aka (Retina Display Addiction) so i assume that Apple will provide us with the update. While this is all good to say, the fact is that probably the larger retina display is Dependant on the memory and processor upgrades and will probable need better power management.
So after exploding onto the tablet scene earlier this year, the industry has been swamped with other products from apples competitors that are offering solutions to some of the things that ipad was missing with its original design so an update may be due, even with its relatively short lived existence. Even with waiting until next year apple will certainly hold its tablet market share.
Tell me what your thoughts and ideas are for the iPad 2nd gen.
